Member Spotlight: Terror

To be honest, I still have many important names on my list for the Spotlights, it was not easy to decide, who i should choose for the next interview. Geirku said something in his interview, which forced me to do the next Spotlight about someone special. Special for me because he is one of two people from SUN, which i would already describe as very good friend. When someone gives me a hint, that a good friend is sad, its my obligation to change this. I know, he think its not important, that there is a spotlight about him, but thats not my opinion and i’m sure other SUN’s feel the same way.

He is a very important part of SUN. He is the Court Jester and Humble Servant of His Grace Lord Marshal ruler of Agon. He is one of the nicest persons in SUN.

Mmm i hate this part of the interview ;) but here goes.. name is Magnus and i currently collect bottles for a living, since i just got done with my b.sc in biochemistry and there is no jobs to be found. I also have a huge passion for breaking people’s computers ;)

Whats the story behind your nick?

Well i have had many different online nicks, but my first MMORPG nick was Wind of Terror, it was actually my best friend Wind of Fear who thought up the names, and at the point in time i found it an amazing idea, but i quickly realized everyone else thought it was a retarded nickname. I have been going under WoT for the last 10 years, but when i quit playing Asherons Call because of the Darkfall beta i realized it was time for a new name, and so it became Dread Terror, dread was stolen from the dreadlords title in UO and Terror from my old nick.

What is SUN for you?

To describe it very simple, its Home. I have been a part of Blood for over a decade most of them time as a core member and for awhile i have been leading Blood in Asherons Call and in Darkfall. When the NA guys in Blood decided to leave for NA-1, i felt there was two things we could do, since i had been co-leading blood with Kiad and Sethdrone , it was naturally i took over the guild on EU-1. I was forced with a tough decision,either we had to start mass recruiting to be able to defend our holdings (Dayar/Eslingar/Spearwaters) or we could simply merge blood into SUN effectively making room for other guilds in our reformed alliance. I had a talk with Frank, Decay, Lego and Schlachter and we decided it would be best for our two guilds and the alliance as a whole that we simply merged, so thats what we ended up doing. I have now been a part of SUN for a little over a year, and i been loving every minute of it, simply one of the best gaming guilds i have ever been a part of, and i have had the honor and privilege to be able to help shape in which direction the guild should take in Darkfall.

Tell us a bit about your gaming story before you joined SUN?

I started out online gaming in 1995 with Quakeworld / Quake Team Fortress. In 1998 i started playing Rainbow Six over the “Zone”, and for me its the best tactical shooter ever made, the rest of the rainbow six series is crap btw!. I used to play on occasion at a Netcafe in my hometown (Ballerup) and here i ran into one of the more seasoned players (Bullseye) who at that time played Asherons Call with Niller, Brugs and Kalle at the café, they were all in KoC besides for Kalle who got accepted into KoC later on. After a talk with bully i decided that i wanted to try this Asherons Call. I had long been looking at many of the guys at the cafe playing UO and i was really interested in the game, but i was rather young and my dad was not that happy about letting me use his credit card to pay it with. I rememeber standing in the store when i was about to buy Asherons Call, they also sold Everquest and since i knew little about both games, i decided in the store i wanted to get EQ instead since it looked better lol! luckily for me they were sold out of EQ copies, so i decided to buy Asherons Call which was what i had decided to pickup in the first place. I never looked back, and the first 2 years of Asheron’s Call has been the best MMORPG gaming periode for me, the Darkfall Beta has to be the runner up ;). I played Asherons Call Darktide with Blood/KoC from 2000 till 2009 in between that i had a 6 month break where i played DAOC, with SUN ( yes that was my first time being in SUN ) i left SUN after a few month simply because my friend wanted to leave and play solo, just me and him, and we also had some quarrels with some of the guys from SUN but that is all in the past. I got into the Darkfall Beta in end 2008 and and quit AC to commit 100 % to Darkfall, for me it felt like the last chance to play a pvp oriented mmorpg the way i dreamed about pvp should be (fps combat/full loot). I loved darkfall from the moment i started playing, Killing my first enemy 1 on 1, he was in full Black Knight Armor! my hands were shaking like a Parkinson patient and i could barely hit him with my polearm, but i guess he was equally as excited (or he just plain sucked) because he died in the end and the phat lootz was mine! :).

Tell us a bit about how a typical day in the guild is for you?

I start by checking the SUN forums to see if anything exiciting had happend through the nightI Then i usually chat abit with Geirku and Evoke, and then i proceed to login, i usually do alot of solo pve/pvp.I have not been so active in the last month or so simply due to the lack of interest in the game (riding around looking for pvp takes too long still, the world simply needs to be smaller or easier travel needs to be introduced (ie. runes with 5-10 uses.), i still enjoy playing an hour a day or so.

How would you describe your time so far in Darkfall with SUN?

We have been doing all the right things, the leadership in SUN is by far the most committed and strongest leaderships on EU-1. However we have also been extremely lucky that things always has gone our way. I would say my time in SUN has been extremely fun, although its also hard to compare when it has been alot easier compared to before the transfers to NA-1 happened in terms of fighting. The time before the NA transfers was alot more harsh, yes the Cairn zerg was actually getting outnumbered for awhile in the Afghan/GY war. That has all changed since the transfers and our guild has been one of the strongest forces since then on EU-1. I have really have enjoyed getting some victories instead of running our heads against a wall of rank 90/100 nukes ;) *sigh battle of serruk*

About Darkfall, what you love mostly on the game, what you don’t like and what is your biggest wish for the future Darkfall?

I simply love the core engine of the game, for me its by far the best MMORPG/FPS engine ever made. My biggest wish is that the development of the game goes faster, we have simply not had a good content patch in over a year, itemization in the game leaves a lot to desire, but there is many issues some large some small, that i don’t want to go into them here.

Do you have any funny or fail stories from darkfall which include other SUNs?

There has been too many fails story’s than i care to remember ;)
