Member spotlight: Tsalarian

2010-10-14 by eli

I was thinking about which one of DF playing SUNīs should be next in line for the spotlight interviews. In the first interview Frank wrote that Tsalarian would be next, however that interview was never concluded.

As far as i am concerned, Tsalarian has been playing from the very beginning and is a guy who have done a lot for the empire of SUN. He has always been very polite and helpful to me. He is one of the first one i ask for help and seem to respond in kindness every time.

Okay, we should start. Hello Tsalarian, great to meet you. I hope you will answer me a few questions:

Ingame name?

Tsalarian Crystalshard

How old are you and where do you live irl?

I'm 30, living in Denmark.

Whats the story behind your nick?

I chose my nick when I started playing EQ (my second MMO after UO). I decided I wanted a new nick, as I thought the one I had in UO wasn't very original. I was playing with the random name generator for inspiration and stumpled across something that looked like Tsalarian. I changed a few letters and was happy with my name! In EQ you only initially chose a first name though, and when I started playing Darkfall in beta I just wanted to get started fast, so I just took the first last name the random name generator threw at me and entered the game. When release came I decided to keep my last name (now much to my regret) in case anyone I met in beta wanted to get back in touch.

Tell us a bit about your gaming story before you joined SUN?

My first MMO was Ultima Online, and before that I was playing Quake mostly but also some other FPS and RTS games. I played UO for about 2 years with Cortrillion (and Midgaard had a very short appearance, that carebear).

My next MMO was EverQuest which I also played with Cortrillion, shortly followed by Midgaard who this time decided to stick around (I told you he's a carebear!). I played EQ for around 4 years, and for the last year I was playing it very intensely in a guild on Antonius Bayle server called Mortalis.

After EQ I tried various MMOs but none of them kept me interested for a long time. Cortrillion and Midgaard joined SUN during Dark Age of Camelot if I remember correctly but that game didn't capture me.

I wanted to join SUN in Age of Conan but I was slow to apply, and recruitment had closed prematurely. SUN moved on to the next game, WAR, and so did I. Here I finally submitted an application and after a trial period, I was accepted - just before people started getting accepted in Darkfall beta. As time passed, more SUN were accepted into the beta and less were playing WAR. Finally I was accepted as well, and Darkfall caught my interest. I played alot during beta and vigorously explored the world and noted down my findings. Because of my big interest and commitment to exploration and fact noting, I was given the task to update our internal wiki (which I have since neglected), and at launch I was given the chance to become an officer even though I was still a very new member.

Tell us a bit about how a typical day in the guild is for you?

I don't play actively at the moment, as I'm busy finalizing my studies and I don't want to get 'sucked in'. I mostly craft and macro while I work/study at my second PC or read.

How would you describe your time so far in Darkfall with SUN?

My time has been great! I was very active the first half year of Darkfall, and I was trusted with some administrative responsibilities such as tax collection, stocking up on siege equipment, runes and such and overseeing the construction of Calfardar - our first city.

I've never gotten around to PvP'ing as much as everybody else in Darkfall but I've had my own fun with other stuff, and I guess I've had a place in the infrastructure of SUN.

Do you have any funny or fail stories from darkfall which include other SUNs?

No.

The fast shots (you can only answer with a charname)

Which Sun member has done something you apreciate.
Many! It's a lame answer, and I guess I have to name someone. I'll name two: Frank and Geirku. SUN wouldn't be where we are in Darkfall if not for these two.
Disclaimer: Of course they alone did not put SUN where we are today but in my opinion they have been essential, and they have continually contributed immensely over a very long period of time. This I appreciate :-)
I'd also like to mention that I appreciate Al Neo handling recruitment for as long as he did. It's a thankless job, and he did a great job.

As you see it, which SUN is the best pvp'er.
I'm a big fan of Helba especially for his overview of a battle and his ability to be at the right place at the right time - this is something I would really like to be better at! Unfortunatly he doesn't play atm. I'd say Sebastian Sorano is probably the best PvP'er in SUN atm. Dante also deserves an honorable mention as he's very good.

Who is the most helpful?

Tran

Who is most angry?

Al Neo of course :)

If you needed help ingame, who would you contact?

Lego or Fenix

Who has the sexiest char?

Eli Garr

Tell us one thing about you that noone in SUN knows about you?

I won the Druid 'Best of the Best' PvP tournament on Povar server in EQ.

Anything else you'd like to add?

Nothing I can think of.

Which SUN should do the next one for the Spotlight?

Chub Toad

Thank you very much Tsalarian :)

Eli
